Hands down the best way to experience the Sunday islands it's just as beautiful and has way less people than the other bigger ones. we stayed for 3 nights and only ran into 6 others the only time. This was in July 2022.
We stayed here on a mooring the last night before returning our hired cat back to Airlie the following morning. Its an easy trip back so no rushing. The beach itself is pretty good but has sharp crushed coral in places. The camping area and tables are well looked after and the place has a decent toilet too. it would be a good place to stay for sure. There are a few pawpaw and I think a mango trees in the gully up from the beach which is interesting. There is a walking track up the hill which is also able to be used by mountain bikes and well worth walking up - a bike would have been handy. These tracks traverse the whole island over toward the distant lookouts and of course the creepy....... 'Abandoned' South Molle resort
Wonderful campsite on a small island close to the mainland. Used the Scamper to come over (also rented gear from them) and camped two nights. We were unlucky with weather but had a wonderful time. There are several good walking trails and lookout points that are worth doing even in you’re not camping. Camp sites are good (there are picnic tables with a good sunset view and well-maintained toilets). The beach is mostly coral and very shallow at low tide (difficult walking).
It’s a very peaceful place
An expansive campsite with plenty of spots, toilets and picnic huts. You can access all of the South Molle walking trails from here and its just a 10 minute boat trip from Shute Harbour.
