I've always been a fan of El Presidente Hotel in Cozumel and first stayed there in 1986! We've stayed here multiple times over the years and were last here in 2021, and we had a fantastic time. Unfortunately, the hotel has undergone some changes and shouldn't be considered a 5-star establishment. The rooms are in desperate need of maintenance. They're dirty, rusty, and have a mildew smell. The customer service is lacking on all levels. Tonight is New Year's Eve. We had an amazing dinner at Buccanos in town and came back to the hotel to celebrate the New Year with our family and friends (who were all staying at El Presidente). Sadly, there wasn't a single place in the hotel for us to go. The bars were all closed, and all the restaurants required reservations. We asked if we could sit at an empty table to have a drink and celebrate, but we were told that our only option was to go back to our room and order room service?! Meanwhile, the largest restaurant in the hotel had empty tables and a live band. It's ridiculous to turn away a group of paying hotel guests with nowhere else to go! The hotel is quite far from town, and there aren't any other options nearby. It would have been great if the staff had mentioned that reservations were required for New Year's when we checked in. But unfortunately, this just shows that something is not right about this hotel. I would definitely avoid staying here during the peak season. The nightly rates are high, and they're not worth the prices they charge! The rooms are neglected, and the customer service is non-existent.
Our stay here was fantastic. The beach is absolutely stunning, with its serene and pristine waters. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. It's remarkable how room service always seemed to anticipate our needs whenever we stepped out. The food at the resort was surprisingly delicious, although a bit pricey, which was to be expected. The only minor issue was that the rooms didn't exactly match the pictures 100%. The cushions on the bed and chairs could use a good cleaning. Despite this, we would definitely choose to stay here again!
This resort is perfect for a tranquil vacation, offering a cozy and private atmosphere. It's not all inclusive, which I personally appreciate if you're not into drinking. The resort is well-maintained and pleasant, with excellent housekeeping. The location is fantastic, with a beautiful and extensive shoreline for snorkeling.
The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurants offered a wide variety of delicious food options. The beach area and pools were absolutely fantastic and provided a perfect setting for relaxation. On the opposite side of the beach and pools, there was a fantastic spot for scuba diving and snorkeling, where we encountered a diverse range of fish, as well as a crab and a stingray.
This hotel in Cozumel is a lovely and peaceful retreat. I decided to upgrade to a room with a pool and I enjoyed every moment of it. The hotel is conveniently located right on the shore, with a small sandy beach and multiple entry points for snorkeling. It's about a 15-minute drive from the heart of the town and approximately 20 minutes from the airport. Whenever you need a taxi, the bellman can easily arrange one for you, and the wait time is usually just a few minutes. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and genuinely proud to be working at this hotel. The staff truly made our stay memorable, as they can greatly impact the overall experience. The only downside of the hotel is the all-day restaurant, El Caribeño. While it's not necessarily bad, it doesn't quite meet the standards of a 5-star resort when it comes to casual dining. This particular restaurant on the property offers a wide range of Mexican dishes, but most of them felt somewhat Americanized and lacking authenticity. I found much more authentic food outside the resort. However, all the other restaurants on the property were fantastic.
