Lovely visit to an old haunt. Bit cold on the beach but lovely all the same. Went on the tractor to the island, first time in years.. Lovely stroll on the island.
Absolutely beautiful area. We went for the sunset after looking up the best beaches in Devon for sunsets and it did not disappoint! beautiful beach to spend time with the dogs and my friend. We really enjoyed it with beautiful views. The waves are stronger than the other beaches we went to in Devon so just keep that in mind if it is stormy or anything. The path to the small parking area is not suitable if you are barefoot (from experience 🤣) so if you want to take your shoes off on the beach and drive back without having wet shoes I'd suggest taking some sliders/ sandals/ flip flops to walk back to the car. But 100% worth it!
The best beach ever, The Island is a highlight and you have 2 beaches on both sides simply awesome. Stunning views of England's southern coast. there is also the coastal pathway for walkers. There is the pub and the hotel.Plenty of ice cream vans and a coffee shop. They are patrolled by life guards. Really nice beach for family, kids would love it
Bigbury-on-sea is a beautiful place and great for walking at low tide. Me and my dog love it here.
With sensational views in an area of outstanding natural beauty sits the lovely sandy beach at Bigbury-on-sea Devon. Lapped by shallow water it is a perfect family friendly beach. We saw many people enjoying their paddle boards and kayaks here too. At low tide you can walk across the sands to Burgh Island and enjoy a drink outside the Pilchard Inn. You should also sea a purpose built Sea Tractor which runs between Burgh Island and Bigbury Beach. Plenty of parking and toilets are available in the nearby car parks. Note that our phones at times weren't able to pick up a signal.
